Advanced Adhesive Formulation
With more than thirty years of experience, Warwick's adhesive specialists can customize adhesive formulas to meet your exacting coating specifications and offer you a complete materials solution.
In many cases, one of our existing proprietary formulas will meet your specific needs. However, when a custom adhesive design is called for, surface energy and solubility parameter testing may be conducted to generate data for adhesive formulation.
Having selected the chemical adhesive family (i.e., polyurethane, epoxy, etc.), we consider other performance requirements, such as modulus (stiffness), heat resistance, service temperature, weatherability, flexibility, and weight.
Warwick uses custom RFL (Resorcinol Formaldehyde Latex) adhesive techniques to create superior bonds between fabric and rubber. RFL adhesives are very strong, heat resistant, and highly flexible water-based materials. Large volumes of RFL are used in tires, diaphragms, power transmission belts, hoses, and conveyor belts.
In these applications, RFL demonstrate outstanding adhesion, exceptional heat resistance, and the capability to bond to a wide range of fabrics and rubbers. We bond polyester, Nylon, DuPont™ Nomex®, Kevlar®, and Vectran® to nitrile, Neoprene, SBR, and many other elastomers.
Isocyanates are used in combination with other polymers to enhance adhesion performance to textile fibers. Isocyanates are one of the best chemicals for adhesives and come in liquid and solid forms.
Isocyanates are often used with polyurethanes and epoxides to make textile treatments. In some instances, isocyanates can be used alone to bond textiles.
