  • Heat Seal Bonding for Fabric Laminates
Heat seal fabric assembly systems are often the key to the use of high performance fabric laminate performance. As makers of advanced fabric laminates for high strength/low mass applications, Warwick has also developed heat seal fabric laminate bonding solutions that enable our customers to realize the full performance benefit of our advanced fabric technologies.

Our material engineers are able to provide coated and laminated fabrics and heat seal fabric assembly methods for a variety of roll goods applications including inflatable chemical and biological enclosures and other large high-strength fabric structures.

Heat sealed fabric laminate systems can provide high-strength joints in coated fabrics to create wider webs for demanding applications. Warwick's heat seal fabric bonding methods typically result in joints stronger than the base materials.

These wide materials provide cost-effective field assembly of large fabric structures. Unlike other heat seal fabric laminate joints, which typically present a defect as the weakest point structurally, Warwick's heat seal joints complement the fabric web and enable the maximum performance of the fabric substrate.

The combination of tape and bonding techniques of our fabric laminates enhance the tear and damage tolerance in the joints. These stronger heat seal fabric bonds facilitate higher performance specifications for the final structure of the inflatable or fabric system.

Warwick is the world leader in specialty woven fabric laminate applications. Our innovative research and development of heat seal fabric laminate techniques has enabled us to develop advanced performance possibilities for high strength fabrics. Properly formed structural fabric joints allow greater range of applications for specialty fabrics.

Warwick structural heat seal laminte welding benefits:

    • Ability to create hermetic gas-tight joints
    • Heat seal fabric laminate systems can be used for 2,000-3000 lb./in. fabric strength materials
    • Capable of operating continuously at temperatures above 140°F and below –150°F
    • Heat seal fabric joints can be verified with nondestructive methods

Structural heat seal fabric bonding systems developed at Warwick are currently in use for aerospace applications including high-altitude airships as well as marine/naval (Navy Fender) and inflatable fabric systems.
