    Roll Goods Glossary

  • Warwick is a World-Class Manufacturer
    of Vectran Fiber-Based Materials

Warwick uses Vectran fiber, a liquid crystal aromatic polyester noted for its thermal and chemical stability, moisture resistance, high strength and modulus, to enhance the performance of many of our products. Among other applications, we have woven Vectran to strengthen fabric for use in blimps, lighter-than-air vehicles, NASA's Pathfinder mission to Mars, and high-performance sailcloth. Vectran's excellent flex/fold characteristics have led to many uses in the rubber reinforcement industry in hose and diaphragm construction.

Warwick engineers are experts in weaving all Vectran deniers, including 100d, as well as the application of Vectran HS fiber and Vectran M fiber.

    Vectran Advantage
"Vectran is a high-performance thermoplastic multifilament yarn spun from Vectra liquid crystal polymer (LCP). Vectran is the only commercially-available melt spun LCP fiber in the world. Vectran fiber exhibits exceptional strength and rigidity. Pound for pound, Vectran fiber is five times stronger than steel and ten times stronger than aluminum."

    Vectran Properties and Characteristics:

    • High strength and modulus
    • Excellent creep resistance
    • High abrasion resistance
    • High impact resistance
    • Minimal moisture absorption
    • Excellent chemical resistance
    • High dielectric strength
    • Outstanding cut resistance
